Slack Connect Google Calendar
The Google Calendar integration keeps your Slack status and availability in sync with your actual schedule. Slack reads your calendar events and automatically updates your status when a meeting starts — and clears it when the meeting ends. Your team always knows when you are in a meeting without you having to manually set and clear your status every time.

Key Features After Connecting
Automatic Status Updates
Your Slack status changes automatically based on calendar events. When a meeting is marked as "Busy" in Google Calendar, Slack sets your status to "🗓️ In a meeting." When the event ends, your status returns to normal.
Daily Agenda in Slack
The Google Calendar bot sends you a DM each morning with your day's schedule. You see all meetings listed in order without opening Google Calendar.
MORNING DM FROM GOOGLE CALENDAR BOT 📅 Your schedule for Monday, Oct 14 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM Daily Standup 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Design Review with Alice, Bob 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM 1:1 with Manager 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM Team Retrospective You have 4 meetings today.
Meeting Reminders
The bot sends you a DM reminder a few minutes before each meeting starts. The reminder includes the meeting title, time, and a join link if the meeting has a video call attached (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.).
MEETING REMINDER DM ⏰ Your meeting starts in 5 minutes: "Design Review" at 11:00 AM [Join Google Meet] [View in Calendar]
RSVP from Slack
When someone invites you to a calendar event, the Calendar bot delivers the invite in Slack. You can accept, decline, or mark "maybe" directly from the Slack DM without opening Google Calendar at all.
Controlling Which Events Update Your Status
You can choose which calendar events trigger a Slack status change. In the Google Calendar bot settings, configure:
- Only "Busy" events change my status (ignore "Free" events)
- Ignore all-day events
- Choose which calendar to sync (if you have multiple)
Availability Indication
The integration also helps teammates see if you are free before sending a DM. When someone opens a DM with you, Slack may show a notice like "Alice has a meeting until 10 AM" — pulled directly from your calendar — so they know to wait or send a message for later.
Disconnecting Google Calendar
Go to Apps → Google Calendar → Remove App to disconnect. Automatic status updates stop immediately. Your calendar data is not stored in Slack after disconnecting.
