Types of Computers
Computers Come in Many Shapes and Sizes
Computers do not all look the same. Some sit on a desk. Some fit in a bag. Some fit in your pocket. Every type does the same basic job, but each one works best in a different place.

Desktop Computer
A desktop computer sits on a table or desk. It has a separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Schools and offices use desktop computers because they are powerful and easy to repair.
Laptop Computer
A laptop folds open like a book. The screen, keyboard, and battery are all inside one case. Students carry laptops to class and use them anywhere.
Tablet
A tablet is a flat, touchscreen device. You tap the screen with your finger instead of using a keyboard or mouse. Tablets work well for reading books and watching videos.
Smartphone
A smartphone is the smallest type of computer. It fits in your hand and runs apps, takes photos, and connects to the internet. It also works as a phone to make calls.
