You can design a beautiful greeting card using Microsoft Paint or Word. A digital card is fun to make and you can print it out or share it with someone you care about.

laughter, and lots of cake! 🍰

Steps to Make a Card in Microsoft Word

1
Open Microsoft Word and create a new blank document.
2
Go to Layout → Orientation → Landscape (cards look better wide).
3
Click Insert → Text Box and draw a box for your main message.
4
Type your message. Make it bold and choose a fun font and colour.
5
Click Insert → Pictures to add a decorative image or clip art.
6
Add a border: Design → Page Borders to choose a decorative edge.
7
Save with Ctrl + S, then print with Ctrl + P.

Card Design Tips

🎨ColoursUse bright colours for birthday cards and soft colours for thank-you cards.
🔤FontsUse one decorative font for the heading and a simple font for the message.
🖼️ImagesAdd one clear picture that matches your card's theme — a cake, star, or flower.
📏SpaceLeave white space around the text. Crowded cards are hard to read.

Card Ideas to Try

🎂 Birthday card — balloons, cake, bright colours
🎉 Congratulations card — stars, confetti, gold text
❤️ Thank-you card — soft pink or green, flowers
🏅 Well done card — trophy emoji, bold heading, fun border
💡 Fold a printed card in half to make it look like a real greetings card. Write a personal message inside before giving it to someone!

Quick Exercise

Q1. Which page orientation works best for a greeting card and why?
Landscape. It gives a wider layout that suits greeting card designs better than a tall portrait page.
Q2. Name two things you can add to make a card look attractive.
✅ A picture (Insert → Pictures) and a page border (Design → Page Borders). You can also use coloured fonts.
Q3. After finishing your card, what two steps do you do to get a printed copy?
✅ First save (Ctrl + S), then print (Ctrl + P). Always save before printing.
