Notion AI is a built-in assistant that helps you write, summarize, and organize content. It works directly inside any page without switching to a separate app. This feature speeds up tasks that once took much longer to do by hand.

Accessing Notion AI
Type a space on an empty line to open the AI writing menu directly inside a page. Select existing text and choose Ask AI from the toolbar to edit or transform it. Both methods keep you inside your current page without breaking your workflow.
Writing with AI
Choose a writing action, such as Draft an Outline or Continue Writing, from the AI menu. Provide a short instruction describing what you need. Notion AI generates a draft directly in the page, ready for you to edit and refine.

Notion AI Q&A
The Q&A feature searches your entire connected workspace to answer a question in plain language. Instead of manually searching for a policy page, you ask the question directly. Notion AI reads relevant pages and returns a summarized answer with links back to the source pages.
AI Autofill in Databases
A database property can use AI Autofill to generate its value automatically based on other properties. A Summary property might autofill from a longer Notes property on each entry. This saves time on repetitive writing tasks across many database rows at once.

Practical Example: Turning Notes into a Report
Paste raw meeting notes into a page and select all the text. Choose Summarize from the AI menu to generate a condensed version. Ask AI to format the summary as a bulleted list for a cleaner final report.
Reviewing AI Output
Always read AI-generated content before sharing it, since it can occasionally misstate a detail. Treat the output as a strong first draft rather than a finished, verified document. Editing AI output for accuracy takes far less time than writing the same content from a blank page.
