A sentence has a distinct typing rhythm: it begins with a capital letter, flows through words separated by spaces, and ends with a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark. When you type a full sentence, your fingers must maintain that rhythm across the sentence boundary — the capital opener, the word stream, and the punctuation closer — without any pause.
Most beginners lose speed at two points: just before a capital letter (they hesitate to press Shift), and just after a full stop (they pause to read the next sentence). Both pauses can be eliminated with deliberate practice. The sentence race game below specifically targets these two weak spots.
🎵 Sentence Rhythm
Think of each sentence as a musical phrase. The capital is the first beat, each word is a note, the spacebar is the rest between notes, and the full stop is the phrase ending. Once you feel that rhythm, sentences flow from your fingers without conscious planning of individual letters.
🔁 The Boundary Habit
After typing a full stop, your right ring finger presses the period key. Your right pinky immediately hits the spacebar. Then your left pinky (or right pinky for a right-hand first letter) holds Shift while you type the capital. Practise this three-keystroke sequence — period → space → Shift+letter — until it feels like one motion.
