Lists & Bullets
Lists organise information into short points. A list breaks a big paragraph into clear, easy steps or items. Word offers two main types of lists: bullet lists and numbered lists.

When to Use Each List
- Bullet List – Use for items with no specific order, like a shopping list
- Numbered List – Use for steps that must follow an order, like a recipe
How to Create a List
- Go to the Home tab
- Click the Bullets button (•≡) or the Numbering button (1≡)
- Type your first item, then press Enter for the next item
- Press Enter twice to stop the list

Sometimes a list needs sub-points. Press Tab to push an item one level deeper. Press Shift + Tab to bring it back out.
