Drawing with Pencil and Brush

MS Paint is a drawing program that comes with Windows. In Class 1 you learnt how to open it. In Class 2 you use two drawing tools inside Paint — the Pencil and the Brush.

🎨 Pencil vs Brush

✏️
PENCIL
Draws thin, sharp lines
Good for outlines and detail
Line width: very thin
🖌️
BRUSH
Draws thicker, softer strokes
Good for filling and colouring
Line width: can be changed

How to Draw with the Pencil Tool

StepAction
1Open MS Paint (Start → Paint)
2Click the Pencil tool in the toolbar
3Choose a colour from the colour palette at the top
4Press and hold the left mouse button on the canvas
5Drag the mouse to draw a line or shape
6Release the mouse button to stop drawing

Changing Brush Size

With the Brush tool selected, you can choose different brush sizes and styles from the toolbar. A bigger brush makes thicker strokes. A smaller brush makes thinner strokes.

Example: The pencil is like a ballpoint pen — thin and precise. The brush is like a paintbrush — wide and soft. You choose depending on what you want to draw.
