Scroll, Zoom and View

A web page or document is often longer than the screen. Scrolling moves you up or down through the content. You scroll using the mouse wheel or the scroll bar on the side of the window.

Zooming Makes Things Bigger or Smaller

Zooming in makes text and pictures look bigger on screen. Zooming out makes them smaller so you see more of the page. Zooming does not change the actual size of a document.

The View Menu Changes How You See Files

In File Explorer, the View menu lets you choose how files appear — as large icons, small icons or a list with details like file size and date.

View OptionWhat You See
Large IconsBig pictures of each file — easy to see on mobile and desktop
ListFile names in a list — fits more files on screen
DetailsName, size, type and date for every file

Example: Reading a book with a magnifying glass is like zooming in. Stepping back to see a full poster is like zooming out. Both actions keep the actual book or poster the same size.
