MS Paint – Advanced Tools

MS Paint has many tools beyond the pencil and brush. These advanced tools help you draw shapes, fill colours, and add text to your pictures with precision.

Using the Fill Bucket

Choose a colour from the colour palette. Click the Fill Bucket tool. Click inside any closed shape. The colour spreads to fill the whole enclosed area instantly. The shape must have a complete border, or the colour leaks out everywhere!

Drawing a Perfect Shape

Select a shape tool like Rectangle or Ellipse. Click and drag on the canvas to draw. Hold the Shift key while dragging to draw a perfect square or perfect circle instead of an uneven shape.

Adding Text to a Drawing

Click the Text tool (A). Draw a small box where you want the text. Type your words. A toolbar appears to change the font, size, and colour of your text before you click outside the box.

💡 Fun Fact: MS Paint has been included in every version of Windows since 1985! It is one of the oldest computer programs still in regular use today.
