Parts of a Computer

A computer has several parts that work together. Each part has its own job. When all parts work together, the computer becomes a powerful machine.

The Main Parts

Every computer has four main parts: the Monitor, the CPU, the Keyboard, and the Mouse. Laptop computers combine all these into one device.

More Parts Inside the Computer

The CPU box holds many smaller parts inside it. These parts make the computer fast and powerful.

Peripheral Devices

Devices that you connect to the computer from outside are called peripheral devices. A printer, scanner, webcam, and speakers are all peripheral devices.

Printers

A printer turns your digital file into a paper copy. An inkjet printer sprays tiny drops of ink. A laser printer uses heat to transfer ink powder onto paper.

Speakers and Headphones

Speakers and headphones are output devices. The computer sends sound signals to them, and they play the sound for you.

💡 Fun Fact: The first computer was as big as a room! Today, the same power fits inside your pocket as a smartphone.
