Robots & Future Tech

A robot is a machine that can sense its surroundings, think using a built-in computer, and perform actions on its own. Robots help humans with work that is difficult, repetitive, or dangerous.

How a Robot Works

Every robot follows the same three-step process. Sensors gather information about the surroundings, like a camera or a touch sensor. The computer brain processes that information and decides what to do. Motors move the robot's parts to complete the action.

SENSORS (eyes) ROBOT STEPS 1. SENSE Camera detects object 2. THINK Computer decides action 3. ACT Motors move the arm

A robot follows three steps: Sense → Think → Act

Where Are Robots Used?

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence means making computers think and learn somewhat like humans. AI helps voice assistants understand your questions, helps apps recommend videos you might enjoy, and helps cars drive themselves safely.

Examples of AI You Might Already Use

Voice assistants like Alexa or Siri answer your spoken questions. Video apps suggest videos based on what you watched before. Photo apps can recognise faces in pictures automatically.

The Future of Computers

Computers keep getting smaller, faster, and smarter every year. Wearable computers like smartwatches track health. Self-driving cars use computers to navigate roads safely. Scientists are even building computers that fit inside tiny medical devices to help cure diseases.

💡 Fun Fact: The word "robot" comes from the Czech word "robota," meaning forced labour. It first appeared in a 1920 play and later became the name we use for helpful machines today!
