The Taskbar runs along the bottom of the Windows screen. It keeps your most-used apps handy and shows every program that is currently open.

The Start Menu

Click the ⊞ Start button to open the Start Menu. The Start Menu lists all apps installed on the computer. You type the name of any app in the Search box to find it quickly.

Pinning an App to the Taskbar

Right-click any app in the Start Menu. Choose "Pin to taskbar". The app icon appears on the taskbar so you can open it with one click any time.

System Tray

The System Tray sits at the right end of the taskbar. It shows the clock, date, Wi-Fi signal, sound level, and battery. Click the icons there to change settings quickly.

💡 Fun Fact: You can press the Windows key (⊞) on the keyboard to open and close the Start Menu without using the mouse!
